Pavilion
A record label and outlet to explore a deeper, hypnotic side of techno and house rhythms with an attention towards sampling, looping and constructing new material from recycled parts.
The label artwork for the first release (P12_01) takes its sci-fi visual cues from agricultural heat maps, military heads-up displays and augmented reality devices. The illustration is of a planet viewed from orbit with what appears to be weather modification technology hovering in the stratosphere. It’s not clear whether this environment is habitable, hostile, or somewhere in between.
A4 inserts included with p12_01 are printed on orange paper. The design is a reference to shipping labels, markings and little details acquired by parcels as they make their way through the distribution network to wherever they end up. As someone who has spent many hours working in shipping and logistics, this unintentional, automatic design has always interested me as a generative process.
